In Greece, we call it ”KARIDOPITA”. Walnut is ”karidi” and pie is ”pita”. We used to add syrup into our cakes, so cake with syrup is pie for greeks. I know, we (greeks) are crazy!
I love this walnut cake, why? Because it’s moist and fluffy and i can serve it with ice-cream!

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves powder

- In a bowl, mix together: flour, breadcrumbs, baking powder and set aside.
- Mix sugar and butter with a mixer until light and fluffy scraping side of bowl.
- Then, add eggs one at time and continue to mix, until incorporated and add the milk.
- Stop the mixer and carefully, combine the walnuts with cinnamon and cloves.

- When karidopita is ready, remove from oven and gently ladle the syrup over the cake and let it sit and soak up all flavours.
- Don’t forget: hot cake and cool syrup or cool cake and hot syrup! Sprinkle some chopped walnuts over the cake, slice and serve with ice-cream!
